Mount Rawdon has been a literal gold mine for the wider region for years.

Located in Mt Perry, west of Bundaberg, it played a major role in producing the 2018 Lexus Melbourne Cup and now there are potential plans for the site to produce a new type of resource – renewable energy, specifically pumped hydro.

The Mount Rawdon Pumped Hydro project could be a multi-billion dollar re-purposing of the Mt Rawdon Gold Mine which, according to their website, is due to cease mining in FY24 and cease ore processing in FY27.
